“Comments during the last ECB press conference and since then have suggested a somewhat more hawkish slant from the Governing Council than was expected. In the last few days, though, we’ve seen ECB speakers try to retrace some of that tone, reinforcing that policy will not deviate from their commitment of €60bn/mo QE in 2017, and that no decisions have been made beyond then.”

“Market reaction might therefore be a bit limited, but if anything, we would expect a more dovish tone from the ECB on the margin. There are numerous Governing Council appearances throughout the day, with President Draghi and Praet, Constancio, Couré, and Weidmann all making public appearances. Draghi’s speech is at 8am BST. German factory orders for February are also out.”
